Bellmore is a hamlet in Nassau County, New York. This coastal community was settled by Englishmen who came from Connecticut via Long Island Sound in the mid 17th century. Many years after the railroad was built in the area, the train station was arbitrarily named Bellmore. The community continued to grow and adopted the name of Bellmore for their city. The town is comprised of an area which is 3.0 square miles, 0.5 square miles of that being water. “The Bellmores” are subdivided into two areas, Bellmore has a population of a little more than 16,000 residents and North Bellmore has approximately 20,000 residents.
