Bridgehampton is a hamlet in the town of Southampton, in Suffolk County, on Long Island, New York. At the time of the 2010 census, Bridgehampton had a population of 1,756. Bridgehampton is in the 11932 zip code and has a total area of 13.6 square miles. English settlers arrived in Bridgehampton about 1640 and established a fishing village. The settlers established a community called Bullhead, later renamed Bridgehampton after a bridge was built across the nearby Sag Pond 1686. The bridge was the inspiration for the hamlets name “Bridgehampton”. Bridgehampton is famous for the Hampton Classic Horse Show and The Bridgehampton Race Circuit. The Race Circuit was a 2.85 mile road course located near Sag Harbor. Homes and a golf course now occupy the area that was once the race course.
