In 1998, then president Bill Clinton, who was vacationing in East Hampton, gave a radio address from the Amagansett Fire House. Later that evening, he dined at the home of actors Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger. Clinton returned to Amagansett in 1999 to play a round of golf at the South Fork Country Club.
